Let the good (engagement) times boil
The assignment:
an intimate crawfish boil featuring rose gold and shades of pink and green (the wedding colors)
The goal:
incorporate red without making it feel like Christmas and to tie in both the boil and strawberry themes
Tricks to pulling off the look:
1. Keep the pink more prominent than the red (to avoid unintended Christmas)
2. Keeping it equal parts engagement and crawfish boil
3. Details, details, details…
Prominent pinks
Keeping the pink prominent allowed for red accents without feeling like a Christmas-colored event. This meant using several shades of pink in the florals, placing the pink table runner on top, finding a durable rose gold table cover that can stand up to crawfish juice, and selecting pink cotton candy, macarons, and balloons.
Equal parts engagement and boil
In this case, the “diamond” table scatter, diamond-shaped napkins, and “he said yass” balloons are the only visual indications that the party is celebrating an engagement. There is an equal amount of “boil” decor which includes crawfish beads for each guest, printed cups reminding guests to “get cray”, and “let the good times boil” signage in and around the courtyard.
The details
The details of this look added a little extra fun and elegance to the event. This includes serving champagne to accompany the crawfish and providing funny drink markers, providing strawberry shortcake and lager to stay on the strawberry theme, and creating gem-shaped cookies for each guest to take home. Throwing in red cookie ribbons, floral picks, and markings on the macarons added the finishing touches to bring the look together.
