A winter wedding luncheon
The assignment:
A light and white outdoor winter bridal luncheon
The goal:
Create a look that worked well with the outdoor greenery
Tricks to pulling off the look:
1. Incorporating greenery into the indoor tablescape
2. Keeping the balloons, florals, and table linens white (or at least light)
3. Going “heavy” on the accents metals
A treescape as a tablescape
Given that this luncheon took place in early December, it only seemed fitting to incorporate trees into the decor somehow. An added bonus is that the trees bring the greenery of the courtyard into the tablescape. Using several different styles of green-only “trees” in the scape gave more of a wintery forest look versus a Christmas-y look. This kept the focus more on the bride and less on the holiday season.
Keeping it light
In order to give the luncheon a bridal feel, the table linens and plates had to be white. While I originally thought all-white florals might be the way to go, I went with subtle hints of pink to play off of the monogrammed bags (and also featured the same subtle pinks in the place card cookies). The burlap runner under the treescape also tied in nicely with the gift bags at each seat, while the alternating dark and light grey napkins played off of the silverware and white table linens for a festive, but calm, look.
Using several accent metals
In an effort to keep things somewhat dynamic, I opted to use more than one metal to complete the look. The copper-colored floral picks, gold vases and place settings, and silver cutlery all added a touch of elegance and visual interest.
