A blue and orange Thanksgiving
The assignment:
a large Thanksgiving table featuring a less-traditional color, blue
The goal:
create a festive, detailed setting for the feast that incorporates multiple shades of blue and orange while using gold as the accent metal
Tricks to pulling off this look:
1. Make blue the star of the show
2. Stick to one accent metal only (gold)
3. Details, details, details…
Making blue the star of the show
Four shades of blue were selected for this look: the tablecloth, the hydrangeas, one of the napkin colors, and the rim of the appetizer plate. Each of these shades of blue is featured in the balloon arch to bring everything together. Using several shades of one color adds visual interest and dimension to the overall scape.

Sticking to one accent metal only
With blue being a cool color, I knew I wanted the accent metal to bring warmth to the table given the nature of the gathering. The gold cutlery, tealight holders, napkin rings, and confetti bring an element of warmth that compliments the various woods and brown tones that are also incorporated into the look.
Details, details, details…
Several fun details were added to this look to make guests feel welcomed and ready to eat! This included pumpkin pie balloons, “Let’s Eat” confetti, a packaged cookie at each place setting, and a wooden name for each guest.
While not for everyone, a Christmas treescape was a great way to complete the entire look. It’s always fun to run with a theme, so incorporating blue (and gold) into the Christmas tree scape felt like the right way to kick off the holiday season.
