OM in the Wild – Easter morning at Brennan’s
The assignment:
name place settings for a post-wedding brunch on Easter morning
The goal:
keep it fun and on theme
Tricks to pulling off the look:
1. Use the room as inspiration
2. Keep it personal
Using the room
The queen’s room at Brennan’s is stunning. What stands out first (to me) is the fleur de lis-patterned wallpaper, and I knew that I wanted to tie it into the name place settings. I also knew that I needed to play off of the gold in the wallpaper and on the plates. So when I came across the blue satin ribbon with a gold embossed floral design, I knew it was the one. Since it was Easter morning, each guest needed a fun treat to greet them after a long night of celebrating the newlyweds. Nothing screams Easter morning more than a foil-wrapped chocolate bunny, and when I saw these mini Lindt bunnies, I couldn’t purchase them fast enough. When the grooms requested that I include plastic eggs in the design (of course, Easter morning), gold was the only way to go because who doesn’t love finding a gold egg with a prize inside.
Keeping it personal
It’s always fun to see your name on something, but seeing your name on a bag of treats is even better. The grooms wanted each guest to feel the love, so each name tag stating “You’re one of our favorite peeps” was placed prominently in front of peeps on a stick, among other goodies. Also in the bag, a pack of all-pink starbursts (a nod to the wedding colors) and a golden egg containing a hand written note to each guest. For the grooms, a ring pop (of course) to celebrate the new bling!
A bit of lagniappe
What was already a beautiful celebration of the new couple became even better when the traditional French Quarter Easter parade rolled right in front of the private balcony. Everyone enjoyed the elevated view of the festivities down below while sipping cocktails and catching some Easter treats.
