A happy floral birthday
The assignment:
create a birthday floral explosion using darker pastels with an opportunity for guests to participate in the theme
The goal:
create a visual floral experience using letters, numbers, and vertical arrangements
Tricks to pulling it off:
1. Use silver to accent the cooler color tones
2. Use as many florals as possible
3. Consider a secondary food theme
Accenting with silver
I wanted this look to feel “cool” and knew that gold would warm it up too much. Even still, I wanted the flowers to have the starring role and achieved this by only using silver in certain places (a few balloons and candle holders, some cake stands, and the table runner).
Flowers, flowers, and more flowers
I wanted to incorporate florals into as many aspects of the party experience as possible and selected several focus areas that include balloons, food items (cookies, cake, a signature cocktail), wearables (flower crows and sun glasses), table and fireplace decor, as well as a guest experience. I also wanted to up the visual interest by using several different flower textures (artificial for the balloons, tissue paper for the fireplace, and real for everything else). The vertical arrangements, number, and letter forms were a first for me and presented a fun challenge. One of my favorite aspects of the celebration was providing a chance for guests to create floral art to take home.
A secondary theme
I saw the cutest crêpe food truck and was thrilled when they were available for the event. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to incorporate a secondary French theme into the experience by creating a signature crème de violette champagne cocktail and providing berets for everyone.

The table floral arrangements are fabulous!!! I also love the idea of having the party guests create their own floral art to take home!
Thank you!
